15/7/98 Wow, did Freeze Tag go off or what last night??!! A whole bunch of JAG guys were in with Xtro and I and it was a great time. I've noticed that you really need a few binds so try these out :
bind f5 say_team "Frozen at %L"
bind f6 say_team "Guarded at %L"
bind f7 say_team "Thanks!"
Hehehe, you need the last one for good manners really. The first one is for when you're just simply frozen but I found that the enemy often tried to ambush by using you as bait so Xtro came up with the guarded one. Bind them to whatever keys you want, but the F5 - F8 cluster is my generic area. Oh, and don't fall into the trap of flooding the message area (I got a bit carried away last night).
Some tips:
- try to run around in pairs - not that easy but helps in ambush situations
- if you freeze someone put them out in the open and snipe nearby to catch defrosters
- keep frozen bodies away from lava and acid, it defrosts them real quick
- keep frozen bodies apart so it takes longer to defrost them.

===============================
Had a quick go at Freeze Tag last night on the AXG mod server. Firstly let me say well done to AXG for putting up an experimental mod server, I think it's exactly what Perth needs. We've got plenty of CTF and DM servers around, so why not try out some new mods every now and then. It still amazes me that some other hosting sites are completely against using a trial mod every now and then.
Anyway, enough of my ranting. Freeze Tag was pretty cool. Would be great fun for a while with maybe 3 on 3 or so. I can't see it getting a huge following and being the sort of game you keep playing time and time again, but it's certainly good for a bit of a change.
The client for FT is really small, just 79k download. The author mentioned that he tried to eliminate a client side pak file entirely but couldn't in the end. You can download it from here.
