Now let me tell you these are true stories about real quake freaks. If you
know of someone who even slightly fits the description of one of these
people tell us.
KaNe:
Real Name: Josh Torrens
Gender: Male
Age: 14
IQ: about 10!!
This young boy a friend of mine (Lash) who goes to my school. Unfortunately
when I and my friends started to play quake online (last year) he hadn't
even played it before. However since he had a good enough computer we
decided to get him started. I dunno if he was just trying to be cool or
something like that but he ended up literally ordering his dad to get the
internet. You'd think he'd use it for at least something useful like an
assignment or something, but he doesn't. All he does with it is play little
old Quake 95. Hahaha... You guys remember that? It was popular long ago in
the days before quakeworld but it surprisingly enough stands tall with a few
newbie players in it. Well anyway back to the topic, being a newbie as all
newbies do, he began to play with keyboard and refused till only 7 months
after to use mouse. So you're saying "Does this make him a Quake Freak?".
Well no, and that is just a bit of background. What makes him a Quake Adict
is the following.
The Life of KaNe:
School Days - Gets up 6am turns on the computer and plays quake against
reaper bots. 7am eats breakfast and leaves to go to school. 3.30pm comes
home from school leaps out of the car rushes to the computer logs on to the
net and plays Q95. 12pm goes to get a piece of bread, eats it and goes to
bed.
Weekends - Gets up at 3am! Goes straight to the computer and plays quake
till 12, goes to eat lunch. 12:15pm goes back to quake and doesn't appear
till 2am in the morining grabs a drink and sleeps.
The newly found sickness, Quakophobia, could be infecting someone around
you. As for Josh he is under going therapy and has nearly droven his dad
mad. A quote from the father.
"You Got an Addiction, you've got to fight it." - Beware, Its out there.
