Well, as we are all aware, the gaming market is under a massive landslide of FPS at the moment, all vying for the title of the "best" FPS "ever".
Just for starters, I am talking about the second release of the demo. Yes, I actually downloaded the 36 meg beast the first time and then did it again. You see, the first one ran very poorly. On my system, (which has a v2) it ran very, very badly, even on the lowest detail settings and resolution. However the second is vastly improved, and I can run it quite happily on medium detail at 640 by 480.
Anyway, I remember the original blood, and it was quite funny (which is about the only reason I played it). My best memory of the game was blowing up a latrine and jumping into it and hearing Caleb say "hmmm, what an interesting new smell I've discovered."
Anyway, you'll be pleased to note that Calebs smart-ass comments have returned, one being "Well that's one way to open somebody up, although mine is much quicker and much more fun!" while walking past some scientists operating on a dismembered corpse.
Also a nice new feature is that you get to choose which one of the "chosen" you wish to battle as - Calab, Ophelia, Gabrialle or Ishmael. As you'd expect there are differences in strength, speed, magic etc.
Naturally there are some new weapons, and your favourites - such as the new and improved Tesla cannon and voodoo doll, and a few new things such as assualt rifles with over/under grenade launchers.
The story has changed a little bit. It is now the future and the Cabal, depicted as an evil cult in the first blood, is now a mega corporation "Cabalco". The swing of who is truely evil has changed, as the Cabal are now represented as an "ammoral" organisation, not an evil one. The God Tchnerbog (is that how you spell it?) is not depicted as evil, but as a "neccesary force in the universe", keeping dimensions from colliding. But now there is some new evil, nudging at our reality and breaking through with all sorts of strange monsters.......
Anyway, I like it. It looks like it will have a very atmospheric story line, and is one to watch out for. Unless you have a low end system, in which case you can go get stuffed (which seems to be the attitude game developers are taking these days.)
