Ok Duel, a great mod, but there's things (people/playing styles) that piss me off.
1. The Defender. Tactical.You won't see this guy in the first minute or so of the game. He's building up for the one and only confrontation of the Duel. Then he pounces. One frag up and it's see you later.
I really, really find this style of play annoying. Yeah sure it IS a winning formula, but fun? Nah. Can you spell boring?
*REPEAT*
He'll camp where there's only one entrance and light it up like a christmas tree. Run through the ocean of flame and you'll see him already well into his retreat. Firing back all the while.
*UNTIL hell freezes over OR the 10 minutes is up, whichever comes first*
2. The Justifier. Whining. You know the guy. Every single frag you score against him is due to one or all of the following (in order) :
- Lag.
- Packet Loss.
- Phone Call/Someone at the door.
- Misc. Hardware Failure.
- Chronic Diaper Expansion Syndrome(CDES).
- Spontaneous Combustion.
Just shut the fuck up and take it on the chin. If the lag/packet loss/CDES is really that bad, say so and exit the game.
3. The Exiter. Tactical. The game starts, you're up a fist full of frags. Then *pop* you've got no opponent! What a jip! The little weasel's done a runner. He couldn't even tough out a few more minutes. The jokes on him. He's lost the chance to get better by playing a better player, but it still pisses my off. NB. I've been disconnected many a time (damn 2 hour limit), but usually when I'm winning (Ego alert! Begining Destruct countdown!10..9..8..)
4. The Readier. Stupidity. A typical encounter :
Me: Mr X type ready
[Mr X pounds my unmoving player with rockets for another few minutes]
Me: type ready at the console, dickhead!
Mr X: ready
Me: At the CONSOLE!!!!
God Damn! I swear they do it they do it on purpose, otherwise stupidity like that would have had them lick a power point by now. Duel needs a 30 second timer!
5. The Line Jumper. Scum. When you win a duel you EARN the right to play the next person in line. If you want to play another person ask the winner, most will say go ahead. If not tough, wait and win or change server. DO NOT LINE JUMP. Duel needs a RA2 style queue system!
6. Toothpick[JAG]. Enough said. ;) j/k
No doubt I'll add more as drug addled neurons fire hours too late.
