16/12/98 UPDATE:
Had a chat today with a friend who has a Cassiopeia. He's pretty happy with it and it's an E-10, the 4Mb model. I'm feeling that I can't justify the $150 price difference between the Cassiopeia and the Nino, just because the Nino has rechargeable batteries. Hmmm... Oh yeah and I wonder if you could port Doom to it?? :)

Now my first problem is which one? I definitely want a Windows CE device. Palm Pilots and IIIs are great but they aint for me. So, it's down to the few models that are available in the Perth market.
Firstly there's the Casio Cassiopeia E-11. Nice unit. Comes with some great software, is really small, has a headphone jack (MP3s !!) and it appears to have the best quality screen. Only problem is it's batteries suck because it don't come with rechargeables. BIG bummer! Oh, did I mention that they're also the cheapest?
The next unit is the Everex Freestyle. Now I only found one of these in Perth and it gave us grief just getting the thing to switch on. A few people rave about them in the newsgroups but I'm not so sure. It just doesn't seem to have the brand power over here.
The final unit (and probably my leaning at the moment) is the Philips Nino. Ultra cool looking package, but slightly bigger than the Cassiopeia. More costly too but it comes with a charger and rechargeable batteries. Well worth the extra $50. The screen isn't so good and it doesn't have the software I need (for Lotus Notes) but all up it looks like the winner at the mo'.
