End of an Era

The greatest joy I've ever experienced in relation to gaming was getting my first 3dfx card, a Diamond Monster 3D, and seeing transparent water in GLQuake at 640x480 resolution. WOW.

A close second was getting my first GeForce card, a 32MB Geforce256. This was the first Geforce model ever released and it heralded an era of performance 3D gaming in 32bit colour.

I bought it, second hand, in 2000. Well just the other day I sadly pulled it's lifeless corpse out of my Father-in-laws PC (yes, I hand down my crappy hardware to my family, don't you?). Long live the Geforce 256! You gave me 32bit colour @ 1024x768 with a decent framerate on a crappy PIII 500 system. I'll never forget you man, *sob*...
