NEW_razermouse.jpg

The newest Razer mouse is the Diamondback - although you'll have to wait until November when they start shipping to own one.
1600 dpi, 7 buttons (where I can not tell) and a 7 foot cord! But that's just a few of the features, read all about it at www.razerzone.com.

Hmmmm and I was nearly going to get a Logitech MX510....

~AU$90 MX510: 800 dpi, 5.8 megapixels/second
~AU$90 Diamongback: 1600 dpi, 5.8 megapixels/second

Go the Diamondback!
Then review it here.
I find the Viper a great gaming mouse. Lightweight, glides easily and the buttons a nice tactile feel.

They're both around the same price, both claim 5.8 megapixels/second (whatever the hell that means) but 510 boasts 800dpi while the razor 1600dpi and a 16bit data path... what the hell does _THAT_ mean?

Notice there's still no Australian retailer? C'mon WAGZ, where the hell are you when we need you?

You're still using that mouse? How old is it?

#5 / Posted by Relic / 20040916-00:12:18

I haven't had it that long... 6 months maybe?
You order it via the Asia online ordering at Razer. They kept me informed at all stages until it was delivered to my door.
Can't find a review to explain all the features? Buy one and review it yourself! :>

I'm trying to make sense of what's written in the technology explaination section... it states Win2K users will see the best performance due to a limitation WinXP puts on USB polling of 8ms, whereas W2K can poll at 1ms intervals... but somehow their 16bit data path implementation solves this problem? Perhaps because they can send higher coordinate ammounts with each poll cycle and thus move the mouse faster (= responsiveness) ?

Help me out here! How does it perform under WinXP Relic?
