Rabit Hardware have a cool article on building a silent PC, a pet topic of mine since buying an AMD XP2100 and Valcano 7. Their solution consists of ripping out all the annoying fans, heatsinks and noisy electronics and wrapping everything in sound-deadening Dynamat. Remarkable!
Without all the heatsinks and cooling fans plus the wrapping would make the system burn.
