In the spirit of crackpot internet theories I give you my own future prediction about Microsoft:
Microsoft will get paid each time you log into any Windows machine, anywhere.
Details:
- Everyone will have a Passport account that you use to log into a windows
workstation. - Every machine uniquely identifiable through Palladium
- Every passport account will have billing information of some sort e.g.
credit card - For organisations, they can create a range of passport accounts for
staff/guests linked to specific machines only
Microsoft gets paid every time you log into Windows. Doesn't matter
where you are. Log in at a friends house, log in at the library, you get
charged each time. If you log in with an account created by an
organisation they get charged.
All MS software will work this way, no MS software will work without it
Microsoft's only hold on the world is the desktop. Bil G has said in the
past he will not stop until Microsoft is on every computer and they own
the internet. Their final gambit for control is Palladium, .Net, DRM and
services around those technologies. With .Net they control the technical
infrastructure, with Palladium they control the client from software to
hardware, with DRM they control content. Don't forget they hold the
patent on the DRM operating system.
Once this is establishes Microsoft won't have to worry about CALs or
software piracy. The ultimate gravy train. The perfect money pipe.
Microsoft appears to be capitulating on certain fronts regarding
interoperability. .Net supports a wide range of programming languages,
Internet Explorer is standards compliant, MS Office is heading for an
XML file format. These are only designed to lure us into a false sense
of security that Microsoft is interested in playing fair. To weaken the
resolve of doubters who may be less hesitant to avoid Microsoft
technology if they believe it can interoperate.
But it's only a ruse. In the end it really won't matter. if the above
comes to pass Microsoft will get a slice of everything that happens on a PC.
The ONLY defense the world has against Microsoft is open source
software. Not only because it's free, but it's created with an attitude
of cooperation. Users of software collaborating to make it better and
free. As more parts of life involve software of some sort it has to be
the task not the tool that is the focus. A company like Microsoft seeks
to keep the focus on the tools and thus they control what we can and
can't do.

Microsoft is evil, no two ways about it. When they first came about, they said they had no interest in the internet, look at them now, thier "OS" is a glorified Web Browser for christ's sake!!! Than they said that they had no interest in the media, now NBC has been mutilated into "MSNBC" next they are going to branch into some other part of everyday life, maybe vehicles(which would break down all the time, yet people would accept this because they are superior, because they are made by microsoft), or food (Which would taste something like shit, yet people would just eat it and accept that it is better because it is made by microsoft) The only reason they get any buisness is becaus people are like sheep and they are afraid to switch. Boycott Microsft, say "NO, FUCK YOU!!" to Monopoly
